Fiorentina have agreed a deal to sign Malaga winger Joaquin, the club announced on Wednesday.
The Spain international has spent the last two seasons at Malaga, after previous spells at Valencia and Real Betis.
The transfer is dependent on Joaquin signing a contract with the Serie A club, but the deal is now expected to be a formality.
A statement on Fiorentina’s website read: “Fiorentina and Malaga can announce they had reached an agreement in principle for the outright transfer of Joaquin Sanchez Rodriguez, subject to the player signing a contract.”
Joaquin boasts a wealth of experience in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League and is set to join a team that finished fourth in Serie A last season.
The Italian club narrowly missed out on a place in Europe’s premier club competition as they finished two points behind third-placed Milan.
