Besiktas striker Hugo Almeida has added fuel to speculations linking him with a move to Benfica.

The product of Porto youth academy has recently been linked with a move to Benfica, and he admits he is flattered by the Eagles link.

“I don’t know anything about Benfica interest, but I am flattered that a great club are interested in my services,” Almeida told Renascenca.

The Portuguese striker could leave Besiktas this summer after Turkish football was rocked by the corruption scandal.

“It’s complicated. We are waiting. Probably the league will start later, but it’s a very complicated situation.”

The 27-year-old only joined Besiktas last winter, but the aforementioned scandal could see him leave the club after just six months.
