While Lyon once again show to be of a different class, Toulouse are winning the battle for second so far with a 0-1 win at Valenciennes on Sunday.
Toulouse needed the win to move back into second place, but were about to drop two valuable points against Valenciennes.
But the decider did come, as Gignac beat the opposing goalkeeper in stoppage time to secure a very late victory.
Lyon have nineteen points from their first seven games, while the rest are much closer together in their fight for second place. Toulouse earned 14 points so far, followed by Marseille and Grenoble with 13 each.
