Zeki Fryers is feeling settled and ‘very happy’ after joining Tottenham from Standard Liege at the start of January.

The youngster followed up playing 60 minutes in an Under-21s friendly against Charlton by seeing out the full 90 minutes of the reserve team’s 5-1 win over Wolves on Monday, and the England Under-19s defender is relishing the opportunity of improving as a player at White Hart Lane.

Fryers told the club’s official website: “It’s been great so far, mixing in with the lads and the facilities here are great to learn and to get better.

“I knew a couple of the lads from England youth internationals and I pretty much know everyone already. I’ve just got to get to know the staff now! I’m very happy to be here.”

A brace from Jon Obika and a goal each from Tom Carroll, Andros Townsend and Iago Falque saw the north London outfit kick off Phase Two of their Under-21s Premier League campaign in style, in a display which pleased the defender.

“It was a difficult game because of the conditions but that didn’t faze us, we were still able to play our football and score the goals,” he said.

“It was great to play in the friendly last week, playing 60 minutes there, and I played 90 minutes against Wolves. I’ve now got to build on that.”
