Fulham reject West Ham’s Cairney bid

Fulham have rejected a bid of £20million from West Ham United for Tom Cairney, according to Sky Sports.

Having already completed the signing of fullback Ryan Fredericks from Fulham and Poland international goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski from Swansea, and expressed an interest in signing Jack Wilshere from Arsenal, West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini is wasting no time in strengthening the squad in order to deliver on the club’s project, something both Slaven Bilić and David Moyes apparently failed to do.

However, Fulham are obviously reluctant to part ways with their captain, the player who scored the decisive goal in the final of the Championship play-off, effectively promoting the club to the Premier League. It is not to be wondered at as Cairney is a very complete midfielder, boasting both creativity and physicality, as well as an incredible work rate.

If the Hammers plan to turn their interest into a done deal, they will have to raise their offer somewhat.
