Fulham sign new midfielder

Fulham have completed the signing of midfielder Mickael Tavares on a free transfer, the club have announced on their official website.

The 29-year-old, who worked with Martin Jol at Hamburger SV, has signed a short-term deal with the Premier League club.

The Senegalese midfielder was signed as a replacement for Mahamadou Diarra, who picked up a serious knee injury few weeks ago.

Mickael Tavares began his career in France and went on to play for SC Abbeville, Nantes and Tours before joining Slavia Prague in the summer of 2007.

The Senegal international made a switch to Hamburger SV in the winter of 2009, but failed to make an impact in Bundesliga and spent the 2010/2011 season on loan at Middlesbrough.

He was released from his contract at Hamburger SV at the end of last season and has finally found a new club.
