Gael Clichy nears Fenerbahce move

L’Equipe is reporting that Fenerbahce have emerged as favourites to sign English defender Gael Clichy from Manchester City.

The Canaries are set to complete the capture of Lyon winger Mathieu Valbuena, but having wrapped up the deal for the France international, they quickly turned their attention towards his compatriot.

Fenerbahce are in advanced talks with Gael Clichy over a three-year contract and the player is expected to travel to Turkey in the coming days.

The 31-year-old is a free agent after his contract at Etihad Stadium came to an end, and it appears that he will be leaving England after spending last 14 years playing for Arsenal and Manchester City.

Clichy had begun his professional career at Cannes, but he only managed 15 league appearances before moving to Arsenal in 2003.

Capped by France 20 times, the full-back last represented Les Bleus back in 2013.
