Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray have renewed their interest in Benfica playmaker Adel Taarabt, Portuguese media outlet Abola has revealed.

Galatasaray have attempted to sign the Morocco international during the January transfer window, but are not ready give up their pursuit as they are preparing a summer bid for the footballer who struggled with weight issues and unprofessional behaviour during his spell at Benfica.

The Turkish club apparently believe that Adel Taarabt will be able to restore the fine form he displayed while at QPR and AC Milan as they hold the Moroccan in high regard.

Rui Vitoria does not count on the 26-year-old midfielder, who will be free to change clubs during the summer transfer window and Galatasaray are keen to beat other interested parties to the signature of the Morocco international.

Taarabt has not made a single appearance for Benfica’s first team, while he spent a great deal of the season playing for the reserve team.

The Moroccan featured in seven matches for Benfica II, having scored one goal in the process.
