AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said he does not intend to sack coach Massimiliano Allegri, despite their poor start to the season.

After the departure of a number of key players, Milan have struggled this term to sit in 13th place in Serie A, having suffered six defeats.

They slipped to a 3-1 loss to Fiorentina on Sunday, and although speculation that Allegri could soon be sacked is rife, Galliani believes a coaching change could be counter-productive.

“It is obvious that we are not happy,” the 68-year-old told reporters on Monday.

“We evaluated everything last night and changing the coach would not have given us any guarantees.

“Silvio Berlusconi and I had a long talk last night and then we called Allegri at around midnight and told him that we have faith in him.

“We have confirmed Allegri as the coach of Milan. He has done well in the past two years and this is the decision we have made.”

Milan’s next fixture is a tough trip to Napoli on Saturday.
