Lyon coach Remi Garde believes his squad is capable of having a successful year, after a disappointing 2011-12 campaign.
Les Gones are second in Ligue 1 following their 2-0 victory against Ajaccio on Sunday, which maintained their unbeaten record, placing them four points ahead of summer spenders Paris Saint-Germain.
“This is a good win. We’ve just spent 15 days being a bit scattered,” explained Garde to rmcsport.fr following the victory over Ajaccio.
“Some players like Dejan (Lovren) and Lisandro were returning from injury. In the end, this result is very satisfying.
“Thirteen points out of 15, that’s fine. We played three times at home. It is never easy. It’s good to have started this way.
“I enjoyed our first half. It was difficult to find space because of the depth of Ajaccio. Despite that, we had a monopoly of the ball and some chances.”
Despite the change in the squad at his disposal, Garde was positive regarding Lyon’s situation for the season.
“We are still very ambitious, anyway. This is not a normal situation compared to last year,” he said.
“We’re trying to work well. I’m trying to make the most of this group, who will now be able to learn and find its direction.”
