Lyon coach Remi Garde has called on his team to produce a dominant display against Bordeaux on Sunday.
The Ligue 1 giants are unbeaten in six league matches to start the campaign, sitting second and two points adrift of first-placed Marseille.
Ahead of their clash against Bordeaux, Garde said he expected Francis Gillot’s side to sit back and allow his team to dominate possession.
“I see it as a good Ligue 1 game between two teams that have had a good start in their season,” Garde said.
“Bordeaux travel well. They have had three 0-0 results in a row. It means something. It’s a team who likes to defend and leave the ball to their opponent. We are aware of that.
“We will have the ball. We will not concede goals. It will be a good game. We need to work on it.”
Argentine striker Lisandro Lopez has been a key to Lyon’s bright start to the season, netting three times in the league.
Garde was full of praise for his captain, who he said was growing in confidence and was a crucial part of his team.
“His performances are remarkable. He is very useful to the team. It’s the first step for a player and a scorer like him – scoring,” Garde said.
“If he had so many chances and never scored that would be more worrying for me. The most important thing at the moment is that he is confident.
“And we hope that the team will be given even more chances to score little by little. Licha (Lopez) – as special as he is – is not the team.
“It’s good if he scores so often, for him and for the team.”
