Gattuso drops fresh Rangers hint

Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has explained that a return to Glasgow Rangers is on the cards.

The veteran midfielder is set to leave San Siro when his contract expires in June and he recently hinted Ibrox Park would be his next destination.

However, it was believed that Rangers’ financial problems and their transfer embargo would prevent the deal from happening.

Gattuso now explains that he is ready to wait until the transfer ban is lifted to make his return to the Scottish giants official.

“My adventure has finished in Italy. After 13 years at Milan I really don’t feel ready to wear another jersey,” the Italian said to RAI.

“I have already given my absolute disposal to Glasgow Rangers. That is where it all started for me and my wife’s family still lives there too.

”At the moment they cannot sign players because they are under administration.”

Gattuso enjoyed a short spell at Rangers during season 1997/1998, but his battling spirit and passion for the game saw him quickly become fans’ favourite at Ibrox.

The 34-year-old, whose wife comes from Scotland, has spent last 13 years at Milan, appearing in 335 Serie A games, scoring 15 goals in the process.

Gattuso also has 73 Italy caps to his name, and he was one of the key members in Italy’s title winning squad at 2006 World Cup.
