Genoa to offer Adel Taarabt a lifeline

Serie A outfit Genoa are ready to offer Benfica flop Adel Taarabt an escape route from Estadio da Luz, according to Sky Sport Italia.

The Rossoblu have already had a loan offer accepted by the Primeira Liga side and all that’s left is to sort out how to divide the player’s wages.

Taarabt will be moving to Genoa on an 18-month loan deal, during which he will get an opportunity to try and kick-start his career.

The Moroccan already has some Serie A experience, having impressed during the loan stint with AC Milan, but his career has since taken a turn for the worse.

Taarabt hasn’t made a single competitive appearance since joining Benfica on a free transfer from QPR, albeit making 7 outings for the reserve side in second division.

The 27-year-old enjoyed the best playing days at QPR, where he scored 34 goals in 147 matches.
