Belgian outfit Gent host German giants Wolfsburg in the first leg of the Champions League knockouts tonight, and could well come out on top given their impressive recent form compared to that of their struggling visitors.

The German Bundesliga side aren’t in the best shape ahead of an important clash, having only recently picked up their first win in eight, but Wolfsburg were far more convincing in the Champions League, topping a group featuring PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United and CSKA Moscow. However, their away form might be an achilles heel.

The Wolves have won just twice on the road in the league and Europe this season, and come up against in-form Gent side strong in their own backyard. The home side came second in a group featuring Zenit, Valencia and Lyon, and are coming off the back of three consecutive wins in the competition.

In their domestic league, the Belgian side are currently top of the chasing pack, enjoying four wins from their last five.
