Arsenal starlet Thomas Eisfeld believes German teams are benefiting from a change in approach when it comes to coaching.

Three Bundesliga outfits – Schalke, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich – topped their respective Champions League groups this season, while the national team have been among the favourites in recent tournaments.

The likes of Mario Goetze, Mesut Oezil, Marco Reus and Julian Draxler have all excelled on the international stage, which Eisfeld feels is no surprise, given the recent revolution in training.

“I remember from my time in Germany, we did a lot of work with the ball,” the former Dortmund youngster told Arsenal Player.

“Maybe in the past it was different in Germany. There was more of an emphasis on tackling and battling for possession. Now there’s more stress on passing, dribbling and technical ability.

“(Oezil, Reus, Draxler and Goetze) are all sublime players. I think I can take a lot from their game and I will.

“(Goetze’s) outstanding – one of the best 20-year-olds in the world. He’s already world class but if he carries on the way he’s going, he’ll be in the number 10 in the world.”
