Germany have placed themselves in contention of a unique treble at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
One of the major football powerhouse, the Germans are already in possession of the U17 and U19 titles and would become the first nation to hold all three age-group trophies at the same time.
No team, in the history of UEFA championships, has ever managed such a feat, with Italy coming close by claiming the U21 trophy, after being the beaten finalists in U16 final against Spain.
The unlucky Azzurrini were also beaten by the Republic of Ireland in the U18 Championship final in1998, weeks before that year’s U21 event.
But should Horst Hrubesch’s side win two more ties in Sweden, they will become the first side to have accomplished such a feat.
