Il Mattino has suggested that Faouzi Ghoulam could soon be signing a new contract at Stadio San Paolo.
With less than a year left on his current deal, the Algerian was widely expected to leave, but he appears to have changed his mind following the bright start to the season.
He has now all but agreed personal terms over a new contract, but a release clause is currently the biggest problem.
Namely, while his agent wants to include an €18 million buy-out clause, the Azzurri are against said option, so it remains to be seen whether the two parties will be able to find an agreement.
Faouzi Ghoulam, 26, was on the radar of Real Madrid among other clubs, but los Blancos cooled off their interest after recruiting Theo Hernandez from Atletico Madrid.
