Bordeaux coach Francis Gillot has heavily criticised his players following their Coup de La Ligue loss at the hands of Montpellier.

Jonathan Tinhan’s goal in the 61st minute of the match at the Stade de la Mosson saw Ligue 1 champions Montpellier progress at the expense of Bordeaux.

Speaking after the defeat, Gillot did not hold back in his criticism of his beaten players.

“I haven’t seen any game tonight,” he said.

“I can’t say a thing … there is nothing to say really. There was nothing. I saw a fourth division performance, especially on our side.

“We had the level of a reserve team … This lack of motivation? I don’t know. I’d rather had my players telling me they did not want to go to Montpellier, I would have done something else with my day.

“There is quite simply no explanation for what I saw today … But it happens, to see that sort of thing.

“We did not create any chances and we conceded on the only chance they had. It is quite simply unacceptable. Inexplicable and unacceptable.

“In a way, it’s better for Montpellier that they went through. They have a bit more motivation over there than we have. We play too ‘comfortably’.

“Montpellier went thought because they wanted it but we do not have that.”
