Giroud Arsenal move on the brink?

The Metro are reporting this morning that Olivier Giroud will become an Arsenal player this summer after a bid was accepted by Montpellier.

The striker is currently involved in Euro 2012 for France, but as soon as the tournament is over, the Gunners are expected to announce the £12m signing.

Should the deal be completed, Arsenal will be signing a forward on top of his game after his 21 goals guided Montpellier to the Ligue 1 title last season.

At 25-years-old, he is a player coming into his peak too and Arsenal will hope they see the best of him at the Emirates.

Presuming Giroud does become an Arsenal player, he will join German international Lukas Podolski at the Emirates, so they have been busy in the transfer market so far this summer.

All of this is bound to lead to speculation about Robin Van Persie’s future. The current Arsenal captain has constantly been linked with a move away from the club and he is expected to make a decision on his future after Euro 2012.

The Daily Star is reporting that Arsenal are confident last season’s top scorer will sign a new deal though, saying that the new signings could persuade Van Persie to stay.
