Gladbach agree deal for Nico Schulz

German media outlet Bild understands that Borussia M’gladbach are set to complete the signing of talented defender Nico Schulz from Hertha Berlin.

Die Fohlen have so far loaned Andreas Christensen from Chelsea, but they are now set to further reinforce their back line.

According to Bild, Borussia M’gladbach have agreed a €3 million deal with Hertha for Germany Under-21 international Nico Schulz.

The 22-year-old, who has just another year left on his deal with Hertha, was close to joining Italian Serie A high-flyers Genoa, but Gladbach eventually managed to hijack the transfer.

With important defender Alvaro Dominguez struggling through back injury and the Champions League campaign soon to start, die Fohlen didn’t want to take any risks and are now set to add another quality centre-back to their ranks.

Nico Schulz came through the youth ranks at Hertha Berlin and went on to make no fewer than 91 league appearances for the German giants.
