Goalkeeper Robert Enke on Sunday declared himself fit for Germany’s tour of China and the United Arab Emirates despite suffering a head injury for his club Hanover at the weekend.

The 31-year-old had to be substituted in his side’s 2-2 draw at Bielefeld on Saturday after suffering a first-half cut to the head, but Enke has already telephoned Germany coach Joachim Loew to say he is fit to tour.

Enke has taken over as Germany’s first-choice goalkeeper after Jens Lehmann retired last August following his country’s defeat to Spain in the Euro 2008 final.

The Germany squad fly to China on Tuesday and play the national team in Shanghai on May 29 before travelling to Dubai to face the United Arab Emirates on June 2.

Despite ‘flu-victim Marcell Jansen withdrawing last week, Loew has said he will not call up a replacement for the Hamburg defender.

“In Piotr Trochowski, Phillip Lahm and Marcel Schaefer we have enough alternatives for this position,” Loew told German agency SID.

Loew has selected an experimental squad for the Far East tour with several first-choice players left behind including captain Michael Ballack and striker Miroslav Klose.
