Veteran striker Gonzalo Bergessio has signed a contract with Argentine giants San Lorenzo, it has been revealed.

The 32-year-old returned to the club he represented between 2008 and 2009, signing a one-year deal after his contract with Atlas had come to an end.

Bergessio was in advanced talks with Serie A strugglers Palermo, but he eventually opted to return to Argentina.

The well traveled striker had initially joined San Lorenzo from Benfica back in January 2008 and he went on to score 23 goals in 52 league appearances for the club.

He has since represented Saint Etienne, Catania, Sampdoria and Atlas de Guadalajara, and the spell with the Elephants in Serie A will probably go down as the most successful in his career.

Bergessio has failed to impress in Mexico’s top flight, scoring just 4 goals in 30 league outings and he hopes he will have better luck at San Lorenzo.
