Eredivisie outfit NEC have announced midfielder John Goossens has rejected the chance to move to English Premier League club Swansea City.
The Welsh outfit are keen to bolster their midfield in January and had already agreed terms with the NEC.
But the 23-year-old has now decided to end negotiations and stay with the Nijmegen-based outfit until the end of the season.
Goossens has also been attracting interest from league rivals Feyenoord, and – with his contract due to expire at the end of the season – he can leave on a free transfer in July.
The former Ajax starlet, who has represented Netherlands at under-21 level, has made 66 Eredivisie appearances for NEC, scoring 13 goals in the process.
Swansea successfully secured the loan signing of Hoffenheim midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson on Monday, as they look to continue a fine start to their maiden campaign in the Premier League.
