Götze open to Liverpool move

Mario Götze has revealed he has hopes of working with his former manager Jürgen Klopp again.

Speaking for the DAZN documentary ‘Being Mario Götze’, the attacker admitted there was an interest from Klopp to take him to Anfield when he was leaving Bayern Munich, but at the time Götze opted to return to the club where the pair had previously worked together – Borussia Dortmund.

However, his second stint at the Signal Iduna Park has been plagued with health issues and he has made only 34 appearances for Dortmund in two seasons.

On the other hand, Klopp’s Liverpool project has picked up pace since the club’s involvement in the Champions League final. They have Naby Keita arriving soon – the RB Leipzig midfielder was secured last summer, and they’ve signed Fabinho from Monaco this summer. They are also in the process of adding Lyon’s Nabil Fekir to their numbers, and if that deal, currently on hold, eventually goes through, it’s hard to see where Götze would fit in.
