Guardado offered to Benfica; Lyon join race for Chantome

hot-transfer-newsGuardado offered to Benfica

Portuguese daily newspaper Record has learned that Benfica have been offered a chance to sign Mexican midfielder Andres Guardado from Valencia.

Los Che are set to complete the signing of Enzo Perez from Estadio da Luz, and it appears the Mexican footballer could be included in the deal.

Valencia are prepared to offer €25 million plus one of Andres Guardado, Jonas or Joao Pereira in exchange for the Argentine, and chances are the Eagles will jump at the opportunity to sign the Mexico international.

The 27-year-old has returned to Mestalla following an unsuccessful loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen, but he does not appear to be in the first team plans of new coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

Guardado proved he still has what it takes to play at the highest level with some stunning displays for El Tri at the 2014 World Cup, scoring 1 goal in 4 starts.

However, it appears as though his career at Mestalla is drawing to a close, with Benfica likely to be his next destination.

Lyon join race for Chantome

French giants Lyon have joined the chase for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Clement Chantome, Le Parisien has revealed.

The 26-year-old has returned to Parc des Princes following a successful loan spell at Toulouse, but it is clear he will struggle for playing time if he remains at the club.

And while coach Laurent Blanc sees Chantome as a good back-up for his starting midfielders, the player himself plans to leave the Saints in search of first team football.

The problem is that PSG will not consider his sale if Adrien Rabiot leaves, but the experienced footballer hopes he will be the one to quit Parc des Princes in the coming days.

With his contract due to expire in a year’s time, Toulouse, Bastia and Rennes have already shown interest, whereas Lyon appear to be keen as well.

Nevertheless, les Gones are unlikely to step up their interest unless they cash in on Clement Grenier or Samuel Umtiti.

Rennes starlet set for Serie A switch

Rennes defender Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik is in advanced talks over a move to Palermo, reports L’Equipe.

The 25-year-old was dropped from the starting line-up and forced to train with the reserves after rejecting a new contract offer, but his nightmare at Stade de la Route de Lorient seems to be coming to an end.

Kana-Biyik, who has another year left on his deal with les Bretons, is on the radar of newly-promoted Serie A side Palermo, with the transfer widely expected to be wrapped up in the coming days.

The Rosanero have so far failed to make any notable signings, but they could be very busy in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Palermo start their league campaign by hosting Sampdoria at Stadio Renzo Barbera, with Beppe Iachini’s charges 6/5 favourites to claim maximum points.

Their imminent signing Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik joined Rennes from Le Havre in June 2010 and has since made 113 Ligue 1 appearances and scored 3 goals.
