Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has brushed off suggestions that he is contemplating retiring from football.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss recently stated that he is “approaching the end of my coaching career” after a victory over Burnley which also saw the Catalan’s dealings with the media scrutinised.

However, Guardiola has now clarified his comments, stressing he was talking about his long-term plans and maintaining his commitment to City.

“I am 45. I am not going to retire in two or three years,” Guardiola said at a news conference.

“I love my job. I am in a perfect place to do my job, especially here in England.

“I am not going to train for 60 years. I want to do something else with my life.

“But now, I am not thinking about retiring, no.”
