Luis Gustavo looks set to join Bayern Munich, leading to reports that Ralf Rangnick may quit as Hoffenheim coach.

Star midfielder Gustavo has been consistently linked with a move to the Bundesliga champions, who see the Brazilian as a long-term replacement for captain Mark van Bommel.

A fee of 15 million euros has reportedly been agreed between the clubs for Gustavo, who will sign a five-year contract on Sunday subject to a successful medical.

“The terms of the deal bringing the 23-year-old to the Saebener Strasse have been agreed between the Bayern board and the south-western outfit,” the club said in a statement.

“Provided there is no last-minute hitch the Brazilian will sign a four-and-a-half year deal keeping him in Munich until 2015.”

Rangnick has consistently denied reports that Gustavo would be sold, but it appears club owner Dietmar Hopp has agreed a deal behind the coach’s back.

Rangnick, 52, has been in charge of Hoffenheim for four years, orchestrating the club’s rise from the third tier to the Bundesliga, but he now appears headed for an exit, according to reports in German newspaper Bild am Sonntag.

The club are yet to make an official announcement regarding the rumours.

“We can’t and won’t comment for the moment,” club spokesman Markus Sieger said Saturday.

Hoffenheim are eighth on the Bundesliga table. They visit Werder Bremen on January 15, when the German season resumes after a winter break.
