Asamoah Gyan has completed his move to Shanghai SIPG, signing an initial two-year contract with the Chinese club.

The Ghana captain spent the last four years with Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates, having previously turned out for the likes of Rennes and Sunderland.

Gyan will now play under former England head coach Sven-Goran Eriksson in the Chinese Super League, announcing the news via his official website.

A news conference to present Gyan – reportedly set to receive a bumper wage at his new club – is expected to take place in the early part of next week.

“I thank God for this special day, to my family, former playmates at Al Ain and to my fans,” he said.

“I reserve the rest of my comments for the official unveiling next week.”

Gyan scored 95 league goals in three years with Al Ain, while he has 48 goals in 90 appearances for his country.
