Hamburg win fails to impress Labbadia

(GSM) – Hamburger SV coach Brunoi Labbadia has admitted to his side’s poor show after beating Hertha Berlin narrowly with a 1-0 margin.

Despite his side claiming all three points, the 50,000 supporters jeered the home side for a lackluster performance.

“There have been many times this season when we have left the field angry because we have controlled a game but not won anything, so this time we will just wash our mouths out and take the three points,” said coach Bruno Labbadia.

While the win takes Labbadia’s side seven points adrift of the top three, there was little else he could say about his side’s performance other than to look ahead to the Europa League tie with Anderlecht on Thursday.

“We have started a streak here and now we want to build on it against the Belgians and set the foundations for the return leg a week later,” he added.

Berlin coach Friedhelm Funkel was left flabbergasted with the result which leaves his job hanging in the balance.

Defeat leaves the Old Lady five points adrift of safety at the foot of the table and, after having already been given one vote of confidence on Thursday, Funkel must surely now be fearing for the worst.

“Everything seems to be going against us,” he said.

“I don’t think Hamburg have any idea how they won this game.”
