Harry Kane would be a priceless signing for Manchester United

Tottenham striker Harry Kane is reportedly a big money transfer target of Manchester United

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho wants the club to spend a world-record fee of £100million on Tottenham striker Harry Kane, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Tottenham striker has reportedly been a target for United in the past.

However, in Mourinho, the Red Devils have a boss who the club hierarchy backs heavily in the transfer market.

The Europa League winners are looking to strengthen their attack, with Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract set to expire.

The likes of Alvaro Morata, Kylian Mbappe, Romelu Lukaku and even Cristiano Ronaldo are consistently linked with moves to Manchester.

England international Kane is Mourinho’s main transfer target this summer, though it seems. Signing Kane would be a massive coup for United.

Kane is one of the biggest strikers in the world

Harry Kane is simply one of the best out-and-out strikers in the world game for all-around play. The 23-year-old is not just a goalscorer, he is a striker that holds the ball up and brings his teammates into play.

Last season’s Premier League goal tally of 29 goals in 30 appearances was impressive. The fact he also produced seven assists as well showed that he could also be selfless.

The England star has proven over the last few seasons that he has the ability to be prolific at the top level. At Spurs, he has a tremendous understanding with the likes of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen. No doubt, his teammates have helped him to his goal tally, but Kane is the sort of striker who can make something out of nothing.

When his team needs a goal, more often than not Kane finds one. He could arguably get into any team in European football.

Would United be a step up for Kane?

Tottenham are definitely a club moving in the right direction. However, this summer a number of their players are reported targets of other clubs, including Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker.

If the team starts to break up it will be difficult for boss Mauricio Pochettino to rebuild, especially as the club from north London’s recent business in the transfer market has been poor.

United have been going the opposite direction to Spurs in the last few years. However, there are now signs of life at Old Trafford after last season’s Europa League triumph. United under Mourinho are likely to enjoy a far stronger campaign in the new season. The Red Devils also have a more illustrious history than the club from north London.

Kane is a club idol and as the fans sing at games, he is ‘one of their own’. It seems highly doubtful that the homegrown talent would be considering leaving Spurs this summer.

It would be a major surprise if he did want to leave or was allowed to leave the north London club this summer. If he did then he would be nay on impossible to replace, as he is such an important player for the team.

United one of the title favourites for next season

Manchester United are the third favourites to win the Premier League title next season at odds of 3/1. Meanwhile Tottenham are odds of 9/1 to be crowned champions next season.

It is hard to see the Red Devils getting anywhere winning the title with the current squad of players. However, if they did manage to sign a world-class striker this summer that would change everything.

Harry Kane would definitely be a top signing for United. However, it seems highly doubtful that Jose Mourinho will get his reported wish of signing the striker, as I cannot see Kane leaving Spurs anytime soon.

Does Manchester United have a realistic chance of signing Harry Kane?
