Herd makes Trotters switch

Championship strugglers Bolton Wanderers have signed Chris Herd on a one-month loan deal from Aston Villa, according to Sky Sports.

The defender has barely featured for the Villains over the past two campaigns, and only turned out on two occasions last season.

Nevertheless, he made his senior debut for Australia earlier this month, starting in the friendlies against Belgium and Saudi Arabia having previously been capped twice for their U20 side.

In total, the 25 year old has racked up forty-two appearances for Villa, scoring twice, while he has also enjoyed loan spells with Port Vale, Wycombe Wanderers and Lincoln City.

Bolton have taken just five points from their opening eight league matches this season, and are only above the relegation zone by virtue of goal difference.

They now turn their attention to their Capital One Cup third round tie with Chelsea, which takes place at Stamford Bridge tomorrow evening.
