New Porto signing Hector Herrera is eager to repay the faith shown in him after joining the Portuguese champions.
The 23-year-old midfielder has signed a four-year deal to join the club from Mexican outfit Pachuca CF, with Porto paying around €8 million for 80 percent of the player’s rights.
The move sees him link up with countryman Diego Reyes at the Estadio do Dragao, following the defender’s recent switch from Club America.
And Herrera is relishing the chance to make his name in the Primeira Liga.
“It is dream to come to a big club in Europe. I’ve always had this goal and FC Porto gave me that opportunity,” he told the club’s official website.
“Now I want to start working as soon as possible and show why they hired me and believed in me.”
Herrera will face a fight to establish himself in the starting line-up at Porto – who won the title by just a single point from rivals Benfica last year – but the Mexico international believes that he can add something different to coach Paulo Fonseca’s side.
“I consider myself a dynamic player who is always on the move and looking for the ball,” he added.
“I like to appear in the most advanced areas of the field and also know how to make goals.”
