Herrera set for Manchester United stay

The Metro understands that Manchester United have no intention of selling Ander Herrera to Barcelona or Valencia.

The midfielder has been linked with a return to Spain after falling out of favour under Louis van Gaal this season.

He has started just one of United’s four Premier League games so far, with his only other start coming in last month’s 4-0 win over Club Brugge in the second leg of their Champions League qualifying Play-off.

However, despite Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger moving to Old Trafford in the summer Herrera remains part of Van Gaal’s plans.

Prior to his move to Manchester, the twenty-six year old spent three years with Athletic Bilbao having begun his career with Real Zaragoza.

Internationally he has played for Spain’s U20s, U21s and U23s but is yet to be recognised at senior level.

Manchester United host Liverpool on Saturday afternoon, and can be backed at 17/20 for the win.
