Bayern Munich head coach Jupp Heynckes expects his side to be tested on their trip to Wolfsburg, who are improving under Dieter Hecking.

Wolfsburg started the season terribly under Felix Magath, earning just five points from their opening eight matches to sit bottom of the Bundesliga, prompting the 59-year-old to leave.

Interim head coach Lorenz-Gunther Kostner led Wolfsburg to four victories from his nine games in charge before Hecking took over during the winter break.

Since the Bundesliga’s resumption, the Wolves have picked up seven points from four matches to move up to 12th on the table.

Bayern head to the Volkswagen Arena on Friday, where Wolfsburg have lost just once in their past six games and Heynckes believes the home side is starting to come together and understand Hecking’s game plan.

“It’s a team that, because of the situation regarding the different managers they have had so far, have showed varying performances,” Heynckes said.

“But this is going to be a different game.

“Wolfsburg are back to 100 percent.

“What I mean is that emotions will play a role, too and we’ll have to cope with all this accordingly.”

Despite Heynckes’ claims, the Bundesliga leaders are expected to overcome Wolfsburg.

Bayern have a great record against Wolfsburg over the past three years, having won six of the past seven meetings between the two clubs.

Heynckes’ team can increase their lead in the Bundesliga to 18 points if they knock off Wolfsburg and second-placed Borussia Dortmund lose to fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
