Heynckes expects stern test at Stuttgart

Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes is wary of his side’s next Bundesliga opponents Stuttgart, despite sitting nine points clear on top of the table.

Heynckes, who will be replaced by former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola at the end of the season, believes 10th-placed Stuttgart will pose a serious threat when the pair meet on Sunday.

“I’ve found that the games were always tight and difficult. Stuttgart has always played good football, they’ve always had teams that had top players, and I don’t think Sunday will be easy,” he said.

“They are a well structured team, well put together and one can see they play some good football and that’s why they definitely aren’t our favourite opponent.”

The German boss added that his team are fully prepared to play against Stuttgart’s new signing – Manchester United striker Federico Macheda – who has joined on loan for the remainder of the season.

“We’ve shown videos of (Macheda) to my players, so that they are prepared in case he starts the game or comes in mid-game,” Heynckes said.

“Whoever comes from Manchester United will be of quality. I think that Stuttgart has many people who understand football very well and they have obviously thought about this thoroughly.”
