Gonzalo Higuain has been dropped for Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against Colombia in San Juan, while Sergio Aguero remains on the bench.
Coach Edgardo Bauza left Higuain out of his first squad in September, but the Juventus striker returned to the fold in October and scored in the 2-2 draw away at Peru.
However, after failing to find the net in back-to-back defeats against Paraguay and Brazil, which have left Argentina outside of the qualification spots for Russia, he has been replaced in the line-up by Lucas Pratto.
The Atletico Mineiro striker scored on his first international start in a 2-2 draw with Venezuela in September and the under-pressure Bauza will be hoping he can have a similar effect on Tuesday.
Enzo Perez has also been displaced in the starting XI, but Ever Banega is given the nod ahead of Aguero, who replaced Perez at half-time in the 3-0 loss to Brazil.
Bauza’s only other change sees Gabriel Mercado replace Pablo Zabaleta at right-back.
