Attacker Gonzalo Higuain was very happy to get back to action in Real Madrid’s 4-3 La Liga win over Real Sociedad.

The Argentina international last featured in his side’s 2-2 Champions League draw against Borussia Dortmund in November, but made his long-awaited comeback from a thigh injury against Sociedad, coming off the bench in the 74th minute.

“I am happy because we won a tough match and because I am back playing. I’ve been waiting a long time and it’s been a lot of days of hard work,” he told the Madrid website.

“But I have come back in good shape and I felt good. I came on when we were one man down, and there was a higher demand on me.”

The striker then went on to discuss Madrid’s ambitions for the remainder of the season, and stressed they must keep pushing for title honours.

“We have to play our best for the remainder of the season and play for all of the titles to the end. We must continue along this line and keep winning matches to regain confidence for of the rest of the season.

“We have done well and we need keep going like this.”

The Santiago Bernabeu side currently sit third in the Liga table, trailing leaders Barcelona by 16 points.
