Lewis Holtby believes Tottenham possess the quality to remain unbeaten in the UEFA Europa League group stages this season.

Tottenham began their campaign with a 3-0 win over Tromso at White Hart Lane and the German believes they can continue that form when they face Anzhi Makhachkala on Thursday.

Andre Villas-Boas’ side are one of the favourites for this season’s competition and Holtby insists they are heading into the game keen to live up to that billing.

“We just have to try to win every game,” the 23-year-old told the club’s official website. “If you see the group, we have to be confident with the aims and the qualities and the abilities we have.

“I think we’ve had a very good unbeaten run and the result against Chelsea was OK.

“We’re near the top of the league, and in the Europa League we’ve already got off the mark, so we’re flying with confidence over to Russia, but it’s going to be a tough game.

“We have to be up for it and be prepared.”

They will be confident against the Russian side who have not won since May – a run of 14 competitive fixtures.
