Harry Kewell has conceded his football career might be over having struggled to find a new club since returning to England.

The 34-year-old attacker, who left A-League club Melbourne Victory after one season, moved to England in June due to his wife’s desire to be close to her sick mother.

Kewell, who has played 58 matches for the Socceroos, has been unable to find a new employer in England, where he last played for Liverpool in 2008, and after almost four months of searching the Australian forward has revealed it may be time for a career change.

“If something comes up and it is the right thing for me I will have a look at it,” Kewell told Sky Sports.

“But I am happy to move on with a different career.”

Kewell has been linked with English Premier League club Stoke, second-tier Blackburn and Middlesbrough, as well as third-tier team Swindon Town but nothing has been finalised with speculation his wage demands are putting clubs off.

His history of injuries and the fact he has not played at the top level in England for more than four years, may be the reason why Kewell has yet to receive an offer.

“None at all, it has been difficult when you have been out of the country for a while but that is how it goes in football,” Kewell said.
