(GSM) – Former Liverpool manager Gérard Houllier is set to be offered the vacant managerial post at Aston Villa.
Houllier, who was in England for Jamie Carragher’s testomonial on Saturday, remained tight-lipped after reports linked him with a return to English football as manager at Villa Park.
However, it is believed Villa chairman Randy Lerner has offered the Frenchman a contract to succeed former boss Martin O’Neill.
Kevin MacDonald is currently in charge as caretaker after Martin O’Neill resigned just days before the Premier League season’s start.
Former West Ham United boss Alan Curbishley and Sven-Goran Eriksson have been linked with the job, but it seems Houllier is currently in pole position for the post.
