Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has revealed an interest in signing Sporting Lisbon striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

The Canaries have been in the market for a striker to bolster their attacking options, with Swansea City’s Danny Graham and Celtic’s Gary Hooper strongly linked with moves to Carrow Road during January.

However, with Graham reportedly close to a move to Sunderland and Celtic reluctant to part with their star forward, Van Wolfswinkel appears to top Hughton’s transfer wishlist after he revealed a strong interest to sign the Netherlands international.

“Yes, I have seen those reports on him and there is an interest from ourselves but how far that interest has gone from us I don’t know. But certainly there is an interest,” Hughton revealed in the club’s programme notes for the FA Cup loss to Luton.

The 24-year-old first impressed in the Eredivisie at Utrecht and has since gone on to prove himself in the Portuguese top flight with Sporting Lisbon, scoring 27 goals in 59 appearances for the club.
