Borussia Dortmund captain Mats Hummels said he prefers to host the second fixture in two-legged ties, ahead of their last-16 UEFA Champions League decider with Juventus in Germany.

Juve take a 2-1 lead into Wednesday’s second leg after their victory in Turin in February, but Hummels’ men can advance with a 1-0 victory given their away goal.

Central defender Hummels said he will savour having the second leg of the tie played at their Signal Iduna Park, as they look to make the last eight of the European competition for a third season running.

“Given our results in the group stage, we deserved to have the advantage to play at home in the second leg. That certainly is an advantage,” Hummels said.

“To benefit from this is our goal. We want our fans to be animated, to support us from the beginning.

“We need to take care on the pitch, we need to give our fans a reason to cheer and to root for us.

“We want to win our one-on-one duels and make some good passes. In the last couple of years we were able to do this at home in a lot of occasions. So this is our goal for tomorrow.

“We want to play in the way we like – with a lot of speed, with a lot of passion and this will get our fans into it. Hopefully we are able to do this.

“Of course, Juventus would like to prevent us from that but certainly they have other goals than we do.”
