Borussia Dortmund head coach Jurgen Klopp has revealed defender Mats Hummels is extremely unlikely to feature against Arsenal on Wednesday.

The Germany international has been struggling with back and groin injuries since the weekend’s win over Stuttgart.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos is likely to replace the Germany international, after entering the Stuttgart game as his replacement and scoring his first goal for the club.

“The probability that he (Hummels) is not playing is 97.5 per cent,” he said.

“He had thigh problems after the game against Stuttgart, and noticed it until the next morning.

“We have tried everything (to get him fit), but it has not become better.”

Klopp knows his side will face a tough challenge with the visit of Arsenal, but he feels suitably prepared for Arsene Wenger’s side.

“At this level, there are few surprises regarding the strength of the enemy,” he added.

“If Arsenal should be stronger tomorrow than at home (two weeks ago), it is because we have allowed (them to be).”

Dortmund won the reverse fixture 2-1 two weeks ago to ensure both sides have six points from their opening three matches.
