Huntelaar bags three as Netherlands cruise to win in San Marino

(GSM) – World Cup finalists the Netherlands did as expected to beat San Marino 0-5 in their Euro 2012 qualifying opener.

The Dutch took the lead after 16 minutes as Dirk Kuyt converted a spot kick, and Klaas Jan Huntelaar made it 0-2 with seven minutes left in the first half.

Huntelaar, who recently left AC Milan for Bundesliga side Schalke 04, went on to score again in the 48th and 67th minutes to complete a hat-trick.

The fifth and final goal came in the 90th minute as Ruud van Nistelrooy found the target from close range in his first international match since Euro 2008.

The Netherlands now lead Group E ahead of Moldova and Sweden, who beat Finland and Hungary respectively.
