Striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar shows understanding for the decision made by his club, Ajax Amsterdam, to keep the player.
Ajax did received an offer from an unknown club, but lacked the time to find a replacement with the transfer window nearing its end.
“A club from the European sub top was very serious and wanted to pay a lot of money. But Ajax had no time left to find someone else, so I understand that they refused the bid.
Huntelaar also stressed the fact that although the unknown club was willing to pay a rumored amount of 40 million Euros, they were not considered one of the absolute top teams in Europe.
“I would rather make a direct step to the top. So this season, I’ll have to do really well with Ajax and the Dutch team.
