Dutch midfielder Ibrahim Affelay put pressure on PSV Eindhoven’s board, saying that he can’t guarantee that he will stay with the club until the end of this season.
Affelay, who also plays for the Dutch national team, has been trying to come to a new agreement with the title holders but hasn’t been successful so far.
“I have always made clear that I wanted to stay with PSV, but things were starting to take very long,” he said in an interview with newspaper NRC Handelsblad.
“More than once I wondered: ‘Guys, what are we talking about?’ I have played for PSV all my life, then you expect things to be easier.”
The 22-year-old couldn’t say what will happen in the near future: “I can’t say that I will definitely finish the season at PSV. You can’t plan anything in football, it can change from day to day. At the moment I’m happy at PSV, we’ll see what happens.
