Iniesta wants Barca to stay focused

Andres Iniesta does not believe there are any signs Barcelona are on the cusp of their first defeat of the La Liga season.

Barcelona won 3-1 away to Malaga on Sunday to extend their unbeaten run this season to 19 matches and while Iniesta is not foolish enough to claim the streak will continue forever, the 28-year-old midfielder has claimed the Catalans ‘feel great’.

Iniesta and his teammates hold an 11-point lead in La Liga over second-placed Atletico Madrid after their defeat of Malaga.

“Sooner or later that first defeat will come,” Iniesta told Barcelona’s official website.

“We’ll try to extend our undefeated streak as long as we can, though.

“We feel great and our first half of the season was nearly impeccable.”

Despite their incredible run this season, however, Iniesta has warned his Barcelona teammates they must not waste the opportunity to win the club’s 22nd La Liga title.

“These kinds of numbers only mean something at the end of the season,” Iniesta said.

“We want to be on the same form in May.”

Barcelona’s next match is also against Malaga in a Copa del Rey clash on Wednesday.
