(GSM) – Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has revealed that he will continue his quest for silverware this season with his will to succeed as strong as ever.

The Spain international scored the winning goal for the national side as they beat Netherlands this summer to claim the World Cup title.

The 26-year-old is also no stranger to trophies, with four Primera Division titles, two Champions Leagues and a Copa del Rey already on his CV.

And his performances have also earned him a host of personal plaudits, including being named in the team of the tournament for this year’s World Cup, but he insists it is team success which drives him on.

“My personal objectives are collective objectives,” he told the club’s official website. “Winning trophies is what makes me happy, it’s what makes the fans happy and is all there is. Individual prizes are not important.

“Barca continuing to win things is important and what will make everyone happy.”

Iniesta was omitted from the squad for Wednesday’s international friendly in Mexico to afford him some rest at the request of his club.

Having been on an extended holiday following the World Cup, he is now attempting to catch up with his team-mates in pre-season training ahead of this weekend’s first leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Sevilla.

“I am doing well and am doing everything in order to continue to find my fitness slowly but surely,” he said. “Some of my team-mates are ahead in training having been back for longer and they are in better form. Now I am just another squad member and it is up to the coach to decide if I play.”
