Inter are still the favourites, says Vucinic

AS Roma striker Mirko Vucinic admitted on Tuesday that champions Inter Milan will still be the team to beat in Serie A this season.

Inter came from behind to beat Roma 3-1 in the Italian Supercup on Saturday, not least because of a horrible backpass from Vucinic that gifted Goran Pandev an easy equaliser.

But the Monetengro captain said he saw enough in that match to be convinced that Inter will be just as tough as ever, following five straight scudetto crowns.

“They’re the favourites, they have many great players but so too do we,” he told Sky.

“I did an awful mistake (in the Supercup) and I hope not to do that again. But for an hour we did well.”

Following Sampdoria’s surprise run to fourth place and Champions League qualification last season, Vucinic believes their city neighbours Genoa could be the dark horses this time around.

“They’ve spent a lot and bought some great players,” he said.
