The one time Argenitina international is valued at around £25m though a part-exchange deal including Darmian could be enough to persuade Roberto Mancini’s side to sell.

The twenty-six year old full-back moved to Old Trafford from Torino last summer and having impressed initially, has tailed of in recent weeks and could welcome a return to his home country.

Louis van Gaal’s side lost the first leg of their Europa League round of 32 tie with FC Midtylland yesterday evening – their eleventh defeat in all competitions so far this season.
